The Step You’re Postponing is Costing You More Than You Think

Everyone eventually asks themselves, What should I do with my life? Not in the shallow sense of career goals or weekend plans, but in the deeper sense. The kind of question that echoes when you’re lying awake, when life feels fragile, or when eternity suddenly feels real.

The Bible is clear that this question demands an answer. And the answer isn’t as complicated as people make it…… but it’s urgent.

So, when thoughts, questions like these come around, what should you do?

1. Put an end to your unbelief

Many live comfortably in skepticism, assuming life is all about good deeds or philosophies that don’t require surrender. They borrow ideas from culture, science, or personal reasoning to avoid facing God’s call. But unbelief is a choice. You either trust God or trust yourself. Sooner or later, you’ll have to choose.

2. Drop Your Good Opinion of Yourself

We like to think we’re “good enough.” But Jesus didn’t come for the self-righteous, He came for sinners. When you measure yourself against God’s perfect standard, all illusions of goodness fall away, therefore admit you need saving.

3. Cross the Line

You can’t stay undecided. Knowing about Jesus, being born in a Christian family, merely studying theology or the like is not enough, and neither is agreeing with Christian ideas. There’s a line. You either surrender to Jesus fully, or you keep holding out. Don’t settle for standing near the truth without ever stepping into it.

4. Stop All Deliberate Sin

There’s no peace in half-obedience. If there’s something in your life you know is wrong, let it go. Jesus offers forgiveness, but He calls for repentance. Delaying obedience keeps you enslaved and under the bondage of sin.

5. Start Talking to God Honestly

You don’t need polished prayers or perfect words. Start with simple words, words like “Lord, let yourself be found!” That’s enough.

6. Open His Word

The Bible isn’t just an old book, it’s where God speaks. Maybe it feels confusing at first, but keep going. Every time you open it, you’re clearing the path to hear Him.

7. Surround Yourself with His Word

Don’t isolate yourself. Stay under preaching. Share bible study sessions with other Christian friends, find a church community or listen to online sermons, the options today are many, whatever the choice, keep hearing the truth, again and again, because it’s how faith stays alive.

At the end of the day, it’s not what you can do, but what God has already done in and through Jesus Christ. The invitation has already been extended, you’ve heard the truth. You know the warning signs.

So, what’s that step you’ve been delaying, what’s keeping you from surrendering to Jesus fully?
